steel churnTraining
Ronan Martin was brought up in Skye and attended Portree High School. He went on to study Industrial Design at Napier University in Edinburgh graduating with a BSc. (Hons.) in 1998. That year he was a British Design & Art Direction Student winner and exhibited at the "100% Design" show and at the British Design Museum in London. The winning product was a re-usable steel churn shaped food container for Marks & Spencer and featured in 'Packaging Monthly' Design Magazine.

"The churn is a lovely shape, with a strong metaphor running through it...its design appeal, along the rural theme, makes it applicable across many different sectors."
David MacLeary - Senior Design Co-ordinator, Marks & Spencer

The business
On returning to Skye, Ronan set up his own business as a designer and over the last seven years he has built on his experience by concentrating on graphic design and multimedia, including e-commerce websites and short films. Specialised aspects of a contract are outsourced to illustrators, photographers, printers and programmers to ensure a highly professional service.

"Ronan Martin has a rare combination of qualities in that he is not only very creative, but also extremely reliable and professional."
Dougie Pincock - Director, Sgoil Chiùil na Gàidhealtachd

Specialisms
Two of his specialisms are Gaelic and music (Ronan is also a Scottish traditional fiddler) and his experience in music has led to him working with a number of local as well as international clients to increase their profile amongst larger audiences.
