Rowan Cottage (sleeps 4 + cot)

Rowan Cottage

Relax in this charming timber cottage with its old- world ambience. Set in over an acre of fenced wild garden of heather and trees, on its own and beside a quiet minor road, Rowan Cottage was built by a family member who spent her working life in India. Styled on the bungalows in Kashmir, Rowan Cottage has a lovely tranquil atmosphere and is situated at the head of the Pass of Inverfarigaig, 650' above, and one and a half miles from the southern shores of Loch Ness. Forest walks are available 50 metres down the road, which link into a network of paths at Inverfarigaig - ideal for dog lovers!

The Cottage comprises:
Sitting/ dining room opening onto a sun room on the large verandah. Digital TV, radio/ compact disc/ cassette player.
Bedroom 1 - Double bed (can accommodate cot), hairdryer.
Bedroom 2 - Twin beds. Bathroom - bath, washbasin, WC.
Kitchen & utility room - double electric oven, fridge/ freezer, microwave oven, electric kettle, toaster, washing machine, tumble dryer, cutlery, crockery & utensils, cleaning materials. Ironing facilities.

Sun-room, Rowan Cottage

Each property is also equipped with books, games, jigsaws, plenty of tourist information, first aid kit and BBQ. Heating is electric and all electricity is included in the rent April - October, and by meter reading at other times of the year. Bed linen, kitchen towels, and 1 bath and 1 hand towel per person are provided free of charge. Up to 2 pets are welcomed free. Cot, high chair and baby-sitting service available. The nearest shop/post office is 4 miles away, nearest fuel - Fort Augustus 15 miles, Inverness 18 miles.

Loch Ness is just a 20 minute walk downhill, (longer coming back!) or a 5 minute drive, and although both Silver Birch Chalet and Rowan Cottage have lovely (and different) views, they are set in the hills above Loch Ness, and because of the lie of the land, the loch itself cannot be seen from either property.

From the visitors book:

"The quietest, most peaceful place we've ever been. It's like being in another world. Can't wait to come back."

"Here for the 3rd time. Lovely and peaceful - great place to recharge your batteries."

"we've done what we set out to do - relaxed and read a book or two. Quiet walks, drank some wine - sat out on the porch when the weather was fine. Sang some songs, fished some streams; life here is exactly what it seems - peaceful and calm in every way. Many thankyous Janet, we've enjoyed our stay!"
